Everything on board the Revenge seemed to be descending into chaos. They had started to attack a nearby ship, intending to disable it enough to allow them to board it but had underestimated the amount of cannon's the ship had onboard.

And so a battle was raging on and Jim was relaying orders between different ends of the ship, being the member of the crew who could move fast whilst keeping out of harms way more than the others.

They were heading down to relay a status update to Izzy when, out of the corner of their eye, Jim caught sight of a cannon ball hurtling through the air. Seeing that its trajectory had it on a collision course with where the first mate was currently situated, their eyes widened and they took off in a run.

Colliding with Izzy and sending both of them to the deck, Jim made sure that their body was covering his as the cannon ball hit the ship. Causing several barrels to practically explode and sending debris everywhere. They ducked their head into his shoulder to protect their faces, cursing loudly in Spanish as the debris hit their back. Ears ringing loudly from the impact.

Jim balled their hand into a fist at the question, clenching their teeth tight at the pain that caused their injury. They didn't want to say that Ed had indeed caused their burn or even think of the confrontation. Wanting nothing more than to try Frenchie's tactic of locking it away and denying it had happened until they could find their moment to take their revenge for everything their so called Captain had been putting them all through.

"Doesn't matter if that pendejo did it. I got burnt. Skin heals, eventually. The pain won't stop me from doing anything. From fighting what I need to."

For a moment Izzy thought of just telling Jim to get up and do their fucking job, then. But he didn't. Ed was asleep and from the amount of alcohol and rhino's horn that he had consumed, Izzy doubted that the Captain would be awake before noon the next day. And the crew needed a break to rest... to be the young people they were, the pirates they all wanted to be, before Izzy fucked it all up.

❝Did he do this?❞ Izzy asked very quietly after a moment. He was trying, he really was trying to keep Ed's attention on him —that's what he fucking wanted in the first place, wasn't it? — and not the crew but there was also an entire ship to manage and if he didn't do that correctly, then Ed would just be angry and then he would find excuses to torment the crew and... yeah he needed a drink.

Looking down at the bandage they were fidgeting with on their hand, Jim breathed in deeply before straightening themselves up and looking over at the other.

"I burned myself." They replied firmly. He didn't need to know anything more than that. They weren't going to give him more than that. Fingers played over the bandage again briefly, a brief flinch in their cheek before they rolled their shoulders and managed a smirk at Izzy.

"Something you wanted old man?"
